Why offline dating still works better than any app

March 4, 2026 · 5 min read · By Lianne Tregobov

An app can tell you that two people both like hiking, live within twenty kilometres of each other and want children. It cannot tell you that one of them softens when they talk about their mother, or that the other needs quiet in the evening after a loud day at work.

Those are the details that decide whether a first meeting turns into a second one. They surface in conversation, not in a profile field, and they are the reason offline introductions still outperform any amount of swiping.

When a match is made by a person who has sat across from both of you, the introduction carries context. You arrive knowing something true about each other, and you arrive expected.

That is the entire difference. Not more options. Better ones.
